DRUMCONDRA, a parish and village in Coolock barony, Dublin county, two miles N. from the General Post Office. Dublin, comprising an area of 1,244 acres, of which 12 are occupied by the village. Population of parish, 2,721; of village, 227, inhabiting 37 houses. It is situated on the mad to Malahide, Howth, and Swords; Ballybough bridge, over the Tolka, connecting the thoroughfare in a line with Great Britain street and Summerhill ; and Annesley bridge, over the tidal estuary of the Liffey and Tolka, with Amien street and the North strand.

The parish embraces within its limits Richmond village and neighbourhood, with numerous mansions, among Which is Marino, the beautiful seat of the Earl of Charlemont. The house itself is plain but the Casino, a temple of Grecian architecture, in an elevated portion of the demesne, deserves attention. The village is beautifully studded with clusters of villas. The Church is a small plain building erected by the Coghill family. The Roman Catholic Chapel near Annesley Bridge. In Goosegreen-avenue is the Roman Catholic Missionary College of All Hallows, the object of which is to educate clergymen for foreign missions. It is an extensive building, in a demesne of 24 acres and capable of accommodating 200 students. There in a Dispensary, Parochial School an Asylum for Female Penitents and a Widows' House called the Retreat.

The mail from Dublin arrives at 20 minutes past 7, A.M., and at 35 minutes past 2, p.m., and is despatched at 5 minutes past 1, and at 55 minutes past 4, p. m.
