New map added to website,\u00a0 Dublin City and Environs Map 1880 from Thom’s Directory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Original is a large map –\u00a0size : 72cm\u00a0 x 82cm (~ 28″ x 32″)<\/p>\n

\nThe maps covers Dublin city and parts of south and north county Dublin , from Glasnevin in the north, Islandbridge and Crumlin in the west, to Terenure and Milltown to the south. In some rural areas townland names and borders are shown.<\/p>\n

This is a new high resolution scan, made up from 8 separate A3 images merged, and implemented in Zoomify to allow very detailed zoom, see example below – in some city areas the zoom goes slightly beyond the map print resolution.<\/p>\n

The map data is very large, so can take a few seconds to catch up when zooming and panning<\/p>\n
