| 28-May-1879 | | Moore Centenary, a grand musical and literary demonstration held in the Exhibition Palace in honour of the National Bard of Ireland, the leading features being an oration by the Right Hon. Lord O'Hagan, Rev. Chancellor Tisdall reciting the Ode. The evening was devoted to the performance of Moore's Melodies, together with Professor Clover's Ode to Moore composed for the occasion, and executed by five hundred performers. The audience was the largest ever seen within the Exhibition Palace, numbering upwards of five thousand. | |
