It is modelled on the pattern of the London Gaiety Theatre, and consists of pit, balcony, private boxes, upper circle, and gallery, and is capable of accommodating 2,000 spectators comfortably. The opening performance was given by the St. James's Comedy Company, and the piece selected, Goldsmith's "She Stoops to Conquer." | |
